On Friday, May 5, 2017, Vent-A-Hood celebrated its 84th anniversary with an all-day event filled with plant tours, Texas barbecue and live entertainment at their Richardson, Texas facility. Following the National Distributor Meeting on May 4, the celebration with longstanding distributors, retailers and suppliers kicked off with an early morning breakfast and a special keynote presentation from Former First Lady, Mrs. Laura Bush.

Mrs. Bush spoke about her “family business” and life in politics, life as a grandmother and her new focus with husband and former President, overseeing The George W. Bush Institute at The George W. Bush Presidential Library in Dallas, TX. She reiterated that freedom is the main focus of the institute’s initiatives and spoke on the theme of a free enterprise system – a founding principle of businesses in America, such as Vent-A-Hood.

Following the trail of a successful celebration, WFAA-TV News 8 aired an interview with the factory’s President and CEO Skip Woodall, highlighting the company’s commitment to manufacturing in the USA.

Vent-A-Hood also released a video featuring an depth look at the factory and how an 84 year old company continues to grow in innovation and education. According to President and CEO Skip Woodall, “Grease is the Enemy, Vent-A-Hood is the solution.” Skip along with Executive Vice President Blake Woodall and Regional Sales Director Bill Woodall discuss the values, culture and dedication to manufacturing in the USA.

Vent-A-Hood Receives Patent

Press Release: Vent-A-Hood Patent: Another patent was awarded to Vent-A-Hood – this one for the ARS ductless hood
Published by Vent-A-Hood, December 2, 2016

holdinguppatentVent-A-Hood has some of the oldest and longest-standing patents in range hood ventilation from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Over the decades, the company has become something of an expert in the leadership position and design requirements it takes to earn a patent. Today, that includes its newest patent for the Air Recovery System (ARS) Duct Free Range Hood.  While ductless hoods have been on the market for some time, Vent-A-Hood vowed not to manufacture a ductless range hood until a design met its high standards for collecting cooking contaminants and cleaning the air to the best of abilities. The 4-phase cleaning system of the ARS duct free hood was the product that finally reached Vent-A-Hood’s high engineering standards — and, likewise, the unique recognition of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In a recent ceremony, the official patent was presented by CEO Miles Woodall III on a plaque to Bob Seloff, Vent-A-Hood engineer, for his instrumental role in developing the ARS line.

Utilizing a proprietary 4-phase technology, Vent-A-Hood®’s ARS series is ideal for light residential cooking where venting is not possible. They’re powerful, quiet, efficient, easy to maintain, and, because they’re duct-free, they offer unlimited design freedom.

Vent_A_Hood_ARS_REVISEDWhile conventional ductless hoods return contaminants into the kitchen, a duct-free ARS Vent-A-Hood® is in a different class of kitchen ventilation systems. The 4-phase ARS process systematically eliminates contaminants, reclaiming the air and returning it clean and fresh into the kitchen.

  • Phase 1: Active canopy technology effectively captures cooking vapors
  • Phase 2: Centrifugal grease extractor removes grease from air stream
  • Phase 3: Massive activated carbon bed has 50 times more exposure than conventional ductless hoods
  • Phase 4: High efficiency micro-filter uses interception, impaction and diffusion process to capture even minute smoke particles

Contemporary kitchen with stainless steel and wood unitsAnd because the 4-phase kitchen ventilation process works so well, your home interior, including furnishings and fabrics, stay cleaner and last longer, allowing you to continue cooking and entertaining in your home for years to come.

Like all Vent-A-Hood® systems, the ARS kitchen ventilation is made in the USA and offers the quality, craftsmanship, and performance you’ve come to expect from the company that invented kitchen ventilation. We work hard to live up to our reputation as the most respected name in home ventilation. So, not only do we make sure you get better air, we guarantee you get great value.

Vent-A-Hood Rated #1 In A National Survey

Excerpt from: Cooking Up A Healthy Home In 2016 By Miles Woodall III, CEO of Vent-A-Hood
Published by The Retail Observer, June, 2016

Highest PerformanceHome health has been a rising concern among consumers for many years. But long before it was a prevailing topic, manufacturers were gaining knowledge of the health hazards created by indoor cooking and began looking for ways to educate consumers.

During the 1950s, in an effort to capture consumer attention, Vent-A-Hood created “Greasy Gus,” a cartoon villain that helped explain the impact indoor cooking could have without a proper ventilation system. The battle between range hoods and Greasy Gus played out in newspaper and magazine ads, educating homeowners about the dangers of Greasy Gus and the thick coat of grease and cooking contaminants he would leave behind on walls and cabinets without a proper range hood. It was groundbreaking for its time.

Fast-forward to today, and science is now on our side. Indoor air quality merits an entire industry of experts, escalating the healthy home discussion. Today’s consumers are also supercharged about their health, using their purchasing power to create a better lifestyle and environment at home. This trend is especially prevalent in the kitchen.

As consumers become more aware of the impact different appliances have on the home environment, the pressure is increasing on manufacturers to create products that not only look good and function well, but also deliver the added benefits of energy conservation while limiting indoor pollutants or toxins. In January 2016, Proud Green Home stated that the demand for new indoor environmental and air quality technologies that improve conditions is expected to exceed $7 billion by 2024. From smart stovetops and superior engineering in range hoods, the kitchen appliance industry continues a path towards products that create a healthier, more efficient home.

VAH Market Research ReportHere are just a few of the topics manufacturers should expect to address for the healthy home consumer of 2016.

LIMIT THE SPREAD OF GERMS AND TOXINS
The incredible ease with which germs spread has, unfortunately, always been an issue in the kitchen. The transfer of food and cooking contaminants has impacted manufacturers to address ways their appliances can contain germs in the kitchen to promote a healthy home.

This shift is already evident in products on the market actively promoting cleaning and safety benefits. With more efficient and eco-friendly self-cleaning appliances, many manufacturers are making it easier for consumers to eliminate germs and cross contamination creating a healthier cooking environment. And “dishwasher safe” is not only a marketing mantra for dishes and utensils. It’s also a motto for appliance parts to function at their cleanest, optimal level.

TAKE CONTROL OF THE AIR
Increasingly effective kitchen range hoods and cooking ventilation systems have become a priority in the mind of consumers and government organizations. According to a study from Berkley Labs, health consequences of poor indoor air quality from cooking and other activities are as significant as those from all traffic accidents or infectious diseases in the United States.

In 2016, the manufacturing industry will see consumers continue to choose ventilation options that offer both style and high efficiency in eliminating airborne home threats. Like Vent-A-Hood’s signature, patented MagicLung® blower, the educated buyer is not only looking for a quiet option that doesn’t pollute with noise, but an option that also keeps grease and contaminants from escaping into the home.

Expect industry products to offer more advanced systems that help create a safe living area by collecting grease in a responsible way to prevent fire hazards, while offering consumer the ability to add style and statement to their kitchens.

HIGH TECH HOME HEALTH AND SAFETY
A study conducted in 2014 by Ask Your Target Market found that 9 percent of respondents already own multiple smart appliances, apps, or other smart devices for the home that allow them to automate appliance functions remotely.

As technology continues to evolve, homeowners will begin to incorporate more features into their home projects and appliances to allow added control over their cooking, cleaning, and daily lives.

Likewise, manufacturers will see a rise in new safety features, power-saving technology and “smart house” functions to create a connected home. Technology like Vent-A-Hood’s Sensasource, a feature that adjusts range hood ventilation power to the amount of heat coming from the cooktop, will become mainstream. Smart appliances will allow consumers to conserve energy and create a safe, tech savvy cooking environment.
